All items must fit in one bag. We recommend the Ogio Endurance 9.0 duffel bag or similar.

Head:

Helmet
Cycling cap
Thermal cap
Sunglasses with and without clear lenses.

Upper Body:

Baselayer*
Coat
Jersey*
Raincoat
Vest
Armwarmers
Gloves

Lower Body:

Bibs/shorts*
Socks*
Knee warmers
Cycling shoes

Miscellaneous:

Garmin with maps loaded.**
Tubes.
Waterproof bag for phone.
Nutrition.
Sunscreen
Front and rear lights.
Chamois cream

Off the bike:

Street clothes including more clean socks.*
Personal toiletries.

 

* = Bring one per every day of the ride.
** = Or have a cell phone app that can view the route.


 

FXT Preparation Checklist.

Maps:

Preload the map onto your Garmin.
The Strava phone app can also be used to follow the map.

Fitness:

Be able to ride at least 75% of the total milage a weekend before the tour.
Have no bike fit problems.

Bike:

Tires have tread and are free of cuts.
Hubs spin freely and show no signs of wear.
Chain is clean, properly oiled and is not worn out.
Bottom bracket spins freely and show no signs of wear.
Pedals spin freely and show no signs of wear.
Headset turns freely and show no signs of wear.
Bike shifts smoothly into every gear.
Check the torque of every connection on your bike.

If you are unsure how to do these things please take your bike to Transit Bicycle Co. on Greenville Ave. or you local bike shop and have a mechanic look at your bike.


FxT Morning Schedule:

Wake up at 6:25 am. Eat breakfast, shower, dress, etc, and pack up. Have your bag next to the SAG truck, the SAG driver will organize the gear in the truck, and have your bike ready to ride at 7:55 am.
